Pink Ribbon Awareness Initiative

Affiliate chapters of Sisters Network Inc. collaborate with organizations and community groups to coordinate the promotion of breast health awareness in the African American community through the Gift for Life Block Walk.  This unique and innovative program allows breast cancer survivors to partner with volunteers and canvas door-to-door 

Affiliate chapters of Sisters Network Inc. collaborate with organizations and community groups to coordinate the promotion of breast health awareness in the African American community through the Gift for Life Block Walk.  This unique and innovative program allows breast cancer survivors to partner with volunteers and canvas door-to-door in the African American community to distribute breast health education brochures, resource information and pink ribbons. The community has an opportunity to meet survivors, hear their stories and experience their triumph over breast cancer.

The pink ribbon is the national symbol for breast cancer awareness.  The Pink Ribbon campaign is Sisters' national faith-based educational outreach program that reaches women in church with information on how to access breast care services and resources.  The focus os this outreach is to increase the number of women obtaining mammograms a

The pink ribbon is the national symbol for breast cancer awareness.  The Pink Ribbon campaign is Sisters' national faith-based educational outreach program that reaches women in church with information on how to access breast care services and resources.  The focus os this outreach is to increase the number of women obtaining mammograms and heighten their knowledge.  Sisters Network affiliate chapter members and community volunteers disseminate information on breast cancer to African American churches across the United States. 

SNI members give testimonies as survivor role models to encourage and inspire.

Sisters Network Inc. National Cancer Assistance Program (BCAP) was established in 2006 to provide financial help to Breast Cancer Survivors. In May, 2022, the Breast Cancer Assistance was renamed Karen E. Jackson Breast Cancer Assistance Program in recognition and honor of the Founder's legacy in the fight against breast cancer.

Tea and Conversation is two-fold. It is a celebratory event for survivors, co-survivors, family, friends and supporters of Sisters Network Metropolitan Detroit Chapter. It is also an occasion to further promote the important of breast health and to empower women to be their own advocate.

Power in Knowledge (PINK) is an interactive, multi-level initiative of Sisters Network Greater Metropolitan Detroit Chapter. It is designed to educate teen girls, ages 12-18, on the importance of breast health and equip them to become breast health Pink Ambassadors and leaders for women in their families and communities. The teens attend 

Power in Knowledge (PINK) is an interactive, multi-level initiative of Sisters Network Greater Metropolitan Detroit Chapter. It is designed to educate teen girls, ages 12-18, on the importance of breast health and equip them to become breast health Pink Ambassadors and leaders for women in their families and communities. The teens attend workshops that focuses on breast cancer awareness, dispelling myths, knowing what is their normal, the importance of mammograms, and women taking responsibility for their health.

National Day of Worship is the 4th Sunday in October.  Affiliate chapters across the country are encouraged to worship in unity to bring about awareness of the devastating impact breast cancer hs in the African American community.

Provides services to women facing challenges; assistance for but not limited to medical

related lodging, co-pay, office visits and prosthesis. This program also provides free

mammograms for those who qualify.


Tri-County Breast and Cervical Cancer Control Program (BCCCP) 888-242-2702

The program provides breast and cervical cancer screenings, at no cost, to uninsured

women aged 40-64. BCCCP also helps women with insurance that have a high deductible and need diagnostic services.

The Breast Cancer Outreach Project engages low-income Arab American community of

Southeastern Michigan. Provides one-on-one health education through in-home visits, free mammograms are available.


American Cancer Society (ACS) provides information and referrals to numerous

education, community and patient support services, including financial assistance and

transportation programs. To reach your local ACS, contact the national office at

The Pink Fund provides short-term financial aid for basic living expenses to eligible breast cancer patients. 877-234-7465 www.pinkfund.org


The Pink List www.pinklist.org To bridge the gap between breast cancer education and

our youth. We strive to not only educate our community but also assist families affected by breast cancer through the engagement of young adults.


Shades of Pink Foundation Many patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer have extra financial burdens placed on them during treatment and recovery. Common issues are insurance payments, food, transportation, childcare, and other essentials of daily life. 

It is the mission of Shades of Pink Foundation to offer temporary financial assistance during their time of need.

Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit Our Program is 100% Free. Whether you or someone you love has been diagnosed with cancer, or have recently lost someone to cancer, there is a place for you at Gilda’s Club. Since 1998, more than 10,000 individuals and families have visited our Clubhouse in either Royal Oak, St. Clair Shores or Detroit. Our program provides support and networking groups led by licensed clinicians, educational lectures, healthy lifestyle workshops and social activities for cancer patients, their loved ones, and those who are benefit.
